Title
Check-irregular LDPC codes for unequal error protection under iterative decoding
[edit]
Abstract
Unequal Error Protection (UEP) is useful in the transmission of multi- media content that have heterogeneous sensibility to errors. LDPC codes are asymptotically capacity-achieving codes, and their irregularity is easily adaptable to UEP. We intended in this work to create a flexible UEP coding scheme based on LDPC codes to process different kinds of scalable data by the same system. We have chosen to adapte the check node profile of bit-regular LDPC codes to speed up the convergence of the most protected bits. The flexible method consists of pruning a mother code to create several UEP subcodes decoded with the same decoder.
